Second Phase of Cheques Distribution to the flood affected disabled
persons
at Hotel Islamabad, Islamabad
on 7TH April 2011 (by PDF)
Program to distribute the support cheques to
approximately two hundred affected disabled families, was held
on 7th April 2011 at Hotel Islamabad. The affectees /
their representatives from different parts of country
from all four provinces and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK)
attended the program while among other dignitaries the Governor
of Punjab Sardar Lateef Khan Khosa Sahib and Chief coordinator
to Prime Minster Janab Sadiq Sanjarani( Grievances wing) Graced
the occasion by their physical presence, valuable expressions
and distribution of Support Cheques and awards. On this very
special occasion a seminar on” Problems and requirements of
disabled persons and role of the society including Government
and NGO’s was also held the Prime Minster nominated
representative as the chief guest , ended over the cheque of
financial support by Prime Minister to the PDF chief. Amongst
others Mr. Abdullah Rajper of
PDF coordinator in Sindh and Senior Vice President of
Pakistan Association of the Blind was awarded shield of honor
for his devoted contribution to the survey work of flood
affectees. In this occasion Honourable Prime Minister send
messege of appreciation
for the services of PDF. and
Resolution well coming the dissolution of the ministry of
Special Education and establishment of “national authority on
disability issues” to take care of National Affairs.
Perkins Brailler Repairing course Funded and organize by
Pakistan Disabled Foundation at Punjab Govt. Institute for the blind Faisalabad
To entertain the request of Mr. Mushtaq
Principal Institute for the Blind Govt. of Punjab Faisalabad,
Pakistan Disabled Foundation fully supported both financially
and technically to arranged one week training course to trained
the staff of different institution for the blind for the
repairing of Perkins Braillers . The course was inaugurated by
the PDF Chief Mr. Shahid Memon at Govt. Institute for the blind Faisalabad in the late
afternoon of 3rd April 2011. The principal of
the institute Mr. Mushtaq , Mr. Shahid Rasheed of PDF
Islamabad and Course Instructor Mr. Saleem
Kambar also grace the occasion. The trainees from
different institution of federal and provincial GO’s and local
NGO’s participated in the course . The trainees were awarded
certificate at the end of the course
Program Seeratun Nabbi(peace be upon
hin) 26th February 2011
As per permanent policy and feature of PDF to
comply with the aims and objectives of PDF this year again a
comprehensive and purposeful program to observe the event of
Seeratun Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) has been chalked out to get
the members and alines of the PDF farely awared of the
importance of followance of the seerat in both individual and
collective blind of Muslimcommunity. The first and foremost
program comprising of competitions and expert delebration was
held on 26th Februrary 2011 at PDF Academy.
In first three hours three competitions namely
quiz, speech and naat khawni were held and and participated by
the cross disability compitors enthousiastically. The
competition session was ended by the presentation of a beautiful
naat by Mr. Ashraf Abbas.
The concluding session comprising
of the speeches of scholors, graced by the nominated
representative of DCO Dr Saifur Rehman as the chief guest while
emminant scholor and head of the Islamic Learning Centre
University presided over the program and express his views about
the practical observation of seerat and teaching of Quran in the
light of modern age requirements and views of the non muslim
scholors. Prof. Madam Nuzhat Rais famous
Seerat Nigar and scholor stress the importance of bothe “ietaat
and itteba”. Priar to that in his address of welcome chairman
PDF Mr. Shahid Ahmed Memon emphysis the practical
observation of the seerat provide not only satisfaction but
protaction to the followers from numbers of worries and
diseaseboth spiritually and physically.
The chief guest Dr. Saifur Rehman in his
address highlighted the fulfillment of human rights
leads to the implement of seeratun Nabi Peace be upon
him). Further more he highly spoke about the strong and country
wide role of PDF and assured continuation of city
government financial and other wise support to the difrent
services of PDF.
Two Days Youth Work Shop
jointly organized by
Pakistan
Disabled Foundation and Ministry of Youth Affair Sindh
3rd and 4th March 2010
As per proposal of all sindh conference under
PDF the ministry of youth affairs has been very kind and jointly
organized first all sindh workshop with
special reference to the rural and female youth
on fifty percent shairing plus all the equipment and
technical arrangement by PDF.
The workshop was largely participated by the
disabled youth of interior of sindh. To further facilitate the
participation the PAB house Nawabshah was selected as venue of
the workshop. The following experts were covered their topic and
share the information and knowledge.

The authorities of the ministry of youth
affairs and social welfare together with social workers and
special educators grace the occasion by contribution of valuable
expertise and expression.
Two
weeks language course on “English & Arabic:
Two
weeks course on English and Arabic language with special reference
to conversation was held under the sponsor ship of Pakistan
Disabled Foundation at National Training Centre for Special
Education of DGSE at Islamabad in 2nd weak of July 2010.The
disabled participants enthusiastically took part in the course.
The concluding ceremony of the same was held 24th July 2010
in Islamabad hotel at Islamabad. Which was graced by number
of educators and authority of special education together with
social workers. The federal secretary of Ministry of Sports
Mr. Aziz billore grace the occasion as the chief guest.
Two
weeks intensive course on “Sign Language”
Keeping
in view the importance of the skills for people with disability
like sign language for hearing impaired. An intensive course
of two weeks arranged under the sponsor ship of PDF at PDF
Academy Karachi from 1st July to 15th July 2010. The course
was attended amongst others the forty graduates of Karachi
University dedicatedly and enthusiastically attended. The
distribution ceremony of award was held at Muhammad Ali Jinnah
University while vice chancellor of Hamdard University Dr.
Naseem Ahmed Khan grace the occasion as the chief guest and
Dr. Wahab President Muhammad Ali Jinnah University presided
over the ceremony.

In followance
of resolution passed by the Pakistan Disabled Foundation Executives
to celebrate 200th anniversary of Louis Braille and feed back
of the same from the Ministry of Special Education and Social
Welfare regarding PM’s approval for the declaration 2009as
the year of Louis Braille, a comprehensive national program
comprising of inaugural, plenary and concluding sessions graced
by the Mr. Zahid Ali Bhargari Minister Fisheries Sindh, nominated
representative of Chief Minister Sindh as the Chief Guest
for inauguration Mr. Abdul Haw Bhurt Minister for Life Stalk
Sindh as the Chief Guest of technical session, Mr. Abdul Mannan
Federal Director of Special Education Islamabad presenter
of the key note , presided over by the PDF Chief Mr. Shahid
Ahmed Memon, while concluding was graced by the French Councilor
General in Karachi as the Chief Guest. Among others Madam
Irshad Abbasi Resident Director National Book Foundation,
Federal Director Karachi Madam Kishwar Sultana and Mrs. Nousheen
Shezad Chairperson WAFA graced the occasion.
On this very important occasion all those institutions and
individuals who played encouraging role towards the introduction
and promotion of Braille system including printing, transcription,
teaching and arranging of technology during last few decades
any where in the country were provided recognition memorial

OBSERVANCE
OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DISABLED Persons 3rd to 4th December
2008, at Islamabad
To observe the
International Day of Disabled Persons together with 200
anniversary of the great Louise Braille, in the light of UN
Convention for the rights of disabled persons and prevailing
situation of the disabled themselves and work for them by the
GO’s and NGO’s, a, two days comprehensive conference was
organized by Pakistan Disabled Foundation in Hotel Islamabad
in collaboration with PDF Islamabad at Hotel Islamabad on
3rd and 4th of December 2008.
The Inaugural Session was graced by Mr. Anjou Aqeel MNA and
eminent Politician.
The first plinarysession under title expressions by the
consumers and victons of the services” was presided over by
the PDF Chief Mr. Memon while number of participants from
different parts and all walks related to the disability form
all all over the country expressed their views and share with
the ideas of other speekers.
The second session which was designated to discuss the
situation of PWD’s in Kashmir with special reference to the
ERRA comentments. The representatives from the organizations
of Kashmir like Mrs. Nasreen Aziz, Mr. Safeer of KDF and Mrs.
Saiqa Amjad of Diya together with number of participants other
than Kashmir express their views strongly and appreciated the
efforts of PDF.
The final and concluding session which was graced by Mr.
Ghulam Qadir Jamote Advisor to Prime Minister for Employment
as the Chief Guest while Dr. Israr Shah the Amminent
Polititien and active leader of PPp, in the
wheel chair presided over the ceremony. The comprehensive
recommendations were submitted and adopted regarding the
betterment of PWD’s. The Chief Guest and the Chair who
expressed their encouraging remarks, awarded prizes and gifts
amongst the winners of the competitions of Braille and essay
writing. The conference was concluded on thanks by the PDF
Chief of Islamabad Mr. Khalid Hussain Bhatti.
OBSERVANCE
OF WHITE CANE SAFETY DAY 10th October 2008
As per its permanent feature, Pakistan Disabled Foundation
observed Eid Millon at the completion of fastening together
with the observance of White cane Safety Day the International
Day of the Blind in PDF Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Disabled
Persons.
The celebration was participated by social workers, educators
and other dignitaries including disabled children and adults.
Several speakers grace the occasions by their valuable
expressions. Famous TV screen personally grace the occasion as
the Honourd Guest, while disabled children of the Academy
entertained the gathering by their typical demonstration
Three
weeks course on repairing of perkins brailler, mobility,
abacus and low vision From 10th to 28th June at Multan
The three weeks course on repairing of perkin Brailler and
re-scheduled three weeks course on mobility, abacus and low
vision were started from 10th of June under the sponsorship of
Pakistan Disabled Foundation in collaboration with Mohammad
Bin Qasim Welfare Centre for the Blind Multan. Both the
courses were participated by the teachers/subject specialist
nominated by the Directorate General of Special Education
Government of Pakistan, Department of Special Education
Government of Punjab and NGO’s from all over the country.
Some of the developing countries also nominated their
representative but due to the visa problem and political
reasons, only representative from “Lesotho” Africa
succeeded to join the courses. The foreign trained and
experienced instructors Mr. Subramaniam from Malaysia and Mr.
Javaid Akhtter from Pakistan Conducted the course on repairing
of Perkin Brailler and course on Mobility, Abacus and Low
Vision respectively. Mr. Rafi Memon and Mr. Shahid Rasheed had
served as the resource persons of the courses respectively.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. Zafarullah, Vice
Chancellor of the Bhauddin Zakeria University as the Chief
Guest while Mr. Shahid Memon presided over the ceremony, Mr.
Qaim Khan Kirmany Chief Executive of the Mohammad Bin Qasim
Welfare Centre for the Blind presented the Address of Welcome.
While Miss Shakila Yasmin, from the PDF Quaid-e-Azam academy
was the host of the program. During the tour of the centre
handicrafts prepared by the visually impaired girls were
presented to the Chief Guest Dr. Zafaraullah who highly
appreciated the talent and awarded cash prizes.
The concluding ceremony of the two different courses on
repairing of perkin Brailler, mobility, abacus and low vision
organized by Pakistan Disabled Foundation was held on 28th
evening of June in Mohammad Bin Qasim Welfare Centre for the
Blind together with Mr. Javaid Hashmi renowned parliamentarian
and two Member provincial assembly. Mr. Shahid Ahmed Memon
Chief of PDF presided over the ceremony and given the check of
rs. 50,000 as the donation to Muhammad Bin Qasim welfare
centre and Head of the Mohammad Bin Qasim Welfare Centre of
the Blind Mr. Qaim Khan Kirmani presented the Address of
Welcome while The Minister of Special Education Government of
Punjab Mr. Malik Mohammad Iqbal Channer graced the ceremony as
the Chief Guest.
To observe the Meelad-un-Nabi (The Birth Ceremony of Prophet
Peace Be Upon Him) & Pakistan Day, a series of countrywide
programs was chalked-out by the Head office of PDF Karachi.
The first program of the same was held in Karachi in 2 phases.
The competitions of Essay Writing, Speech, Quiz, and Naat
& National Songs were held on 10th of March 2008 in PDF
Quaid-e-Azam Academy among the Disabled Persons from different
institutions including Ida Reu School for the Blind who
contributed and succeeded a lot.
The program of Scholar’s expression on the above said
occasion and Prize Distribution ceremony was held on 17th of
March 2008 in Markaz-e-Islami, City Government Auditorium at
Ayesha Manzil, Karachi. To grace the Pakistan day, disabled
children from institutions, educators and social workers,
largely attended the program.
The Madam Fauzia Larry Minster of Health, Government of Sindh
graced the occasion by her valuable expression. She also
distributed awards and prizes to the winners of the
competitions and Pride of Performance.
Observence
of Eid Milad-un-Nabi and Pakistan Day
To highlight the tenth anniversary of PDF, a joint program had
arranged on seerat-un-Nabi and Pakistan Day in collaboration
with Baluchistan Blind Relief Association on 31st of March
2008 in Quetta. The program was proceeded by speech and naat.
The program was reasonably covered by media.

of PDF tenth anniversary
In Islamabad
at Hotel Serena on 4th of February 2008, to observe the 10th
Anniversary of PDF a comprehensive one-day seminar was
arranged. The occasion was graced amongst others, by the
Director General of Special Education nominated by the Federal
Minister of Women Development, Social Welfare and Special
Education, Mr. Watterdal, senior partner of International
Development Partnership Norway, Professor Rafiq Tahir,
Director, Federal Directorate General of Education, Mr. Khalid
Naeem, Director NR, DGSE, Mr. Simon, Country Director,
Handicapped International, Mrs. Ishrat Masud, Director SR. The
ceremony was Presided Over by the PDF Chairman Mr. Shahid
Ahmed Memon while Miss Qudsia presented 32 recommendations
during the seminar for re-confirmation from the participants.
All the speakers including Chief Guest Mr. Sarfraz appreciated
the efforts and role of PDF and its leadership together with
the expression on requirements, problems and achievements
towards the promotion of Disabled Community, with that 4 hours
long deliberations were concluded very comfortably at thanks
and Hi-tea.
Observence
of New Islamic Year & PDF 10th anniversary
In Karachi on
9th of January 2008 at Hotel Pearl Continental, PDF had
arranged a program on its tenth anniversary together with the
observance of new Islamic year as usual. Which was graced
amongst others including disabled themselves, the Chairman of
Pakistan Steel Rtd. Major General Mohammad Javaid as the Chief
Guest appreciated the role and contribution of PDF and
announced financial and otherwise immediate support. Dr. Abdul
Wahab, President of the Mohammad Ali Jinnah University Karachi
join the occasion by expressing his thought provoking
expression, Professor Dr. Zia-ud-Din also delivered lecture on
sacrification and dedication to grace the starting of New
Year. As the Chief Guest of Concluding Ceremony, Mr. Saleem
Ahmed Zaidi Minister of Local Bodies, Kachi Abadi and
Development Government of Sindh appreciated the efforts of the
Foundation and assured the Government’s cooperation as per
policy to the disabled community and Foundation itself.
He also gave the cash donation on the spot. By presiding over
the Ceremony Mr. Mula Buxsh Khatain Secretary Special
Education Government of Sindh announced the favorable
decisions to promote the educational and otherwise activities
of disabled community in Sindh and invited the delegation of
PDF to have dialog with him on disability issues specially in
province of Sindh. The Conference was participated by the
delegates from all over the country including NWFP,
Baluchistan, Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad. The Conference
endorsed the entire recommendation maid by the Lahore
Conference of PDF from 2nd to 4th December 2007. The
Dignitaries and Honored Guests were awarded gifts and
souvenirs by the PDF.

Independence Day by arranging various competitions and
speeches of the scholars like Prof. Sahar Ansari, Chairman
Board of Intermediate Karachi Anwar Ahmed Zai as a key note
speaker and others to highlight the importance of movement of
independence and consequences. Barrister Shahida Jameel an
imminent social worker, politician and Lawyer graced the
occasion as the Chief Guest.
